While getting the interview can feel like 75% of the job hunt process, many people panic once they land the interview and realize they have to dress for it! Whether you’re new to the corporate workforce, or maybe you’re branching into different dress code territory, we’ve got you covered with a quick and easy dress code guide!

A quick bit of research on the company you’re interviewing with can often provide you with an idea of what the expected dress code is. However, if you’re unsure, always err on the side of more formal!

Business Formal

This is the most formal of the dress codes. It often calls for a full suit for men, and similar for women — a suit jacket over matching suit pants or a suit dress. The darker the better here!

We recommend a well-tailored suit blazer over a midi dress like the Miranda (remove the feathers for this instance!), and a pair of heeled pumps. A structured bag is a great way to finish the look, but don’t get too flashy — keep it neutral for this attire!

Business Casual

Business casual is exactly as it sounds, a bit more casual than business formal! You can loosen up a little bit, and stick with a simple pair of tailored dress pants, and a tailored, neutral colored blouse. Depending on the culture, you could even get away with a bit of a patterned print!

Toss a structured blazer like the Olivia over your outfit, slide into a pair of low-heeled pumps or chic flats, and grab that structured bag again — you’re good to go!

Smart Casual

This one is often suited for marketing or creative agencies, and allows employees to get a little more fun with the dress code! Think chic and put together with a little bit of flair!

We recommend a fun blazer or jacket like the Holly over a neutral blouse and black pants or chinos. Add a pair of fun flats (or pumps, if you prefer!) and a matching bag!

Whatever the dress code, we know you’ve got this in the bag. Know your worth, SETA fam!
